Dolores Cortés Interview for VDL Magazine

 

 

Hoy entrevistamos a la empresaria y diseñadora de Baño Dolores Cortés.

 

Dolores Cortés es una empresa con más de 50 años de experiencia en el sector moda baño siendo una de las primeras empresas españolas que se creó dedicada a la moda baño. Además, todas las prendas de las colecciones se ajustan a las diversas tallas de manera individualizada.

 

Sus  diseños pueden encontrase en países como Francia, Portugal, Andorra, Italia, Reino Unido, Méjico, Líbano, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, Japón, República Checa, Rusia, Alemania, etc.

 

Today we interviewed the  Swimwear designer and business woman Dolores Cortés.

Dolores Cortés is a company with over 50 years of experience in the swimwear industry being one of the first Spanish company that was created dedicated to swimwear. In addition, all clothing of the collections fit the different sizes of individually.

Her designs can be found in countries such as France, Portugal, Andorra, Italy, UK, Mexico, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Czech Republic, Russia, Germany...

 

 

Una firma solidaria, que ha donado parte de sus ganancias de la colección DC Kids a la Asociación de Síndrome de Down de Miami( Florida).

Actualmente es una empresa líder en el sector con un alto componente de diseño en su producto y una gran calidad derivada de una altísima exigencia.

 

A brand of solidarity, which has donated some of their profits from the collection to DC Kids Down Syndrome Association of Miami (Florida).

Currently is a leader in the sector with a high component of their product design and great quality derived from a high demand.

 

-¿Cómo nació su interés por el mundo de la moda?

Mi  interés por el mundo de la moda nació conmigo, ya que mi madre inició la primera empresa artesanal conocida en nuestro país. Yo me ha criado entre telas, bañadores y máquinas de coser, compaginando con mis estudios primero y luego con mi otra profesión.

 

- How did your interest in the world of fashion?

My interest in the fashion world was born with me, since my mother started the first company in our country known craft. I was raised among fabrics, swimwear and sewing machines, combining my studies first and then with my other profession.

 

-¿Cuál es su leitmotiv?

Me gusta la creatividad, la diversidad y me encanta emprender nuevos retos.

- What is your leitmotif?

I like the creativity, diversity and I love to take new challenges.

 

- La modelo Alba Carrillo, presentadora en Glamour TV ha lucido algunos de sus diseños. ¿Qué se siente cuando las celebrities eligen Dolores Cortés?

Se siente el sano orgullo de haber hecho algo que gusta e interesa a otras personas. A las celebrities porque son más conocidas y aparecen en los medios, pero me enorgullece también que mis bañadores les gusten también a las mujeres que mantienen su anonimato.

- The model Alba Carrillo, the hostess of Glamour TV  has worn in some of their designs. How does it feel when celebrities choose Dolores Cortes?

It feels the healthy pride of having done something to like and interesting to others. At celebrities because they are known and appear in the media, but I'm proud that my swimsuits also like them to women who maintain their anonymity.

-¿Bikini o Bañador?

Yo siempre digo que las dos cosas, que igual que nos vestimos unas veces con falda y otras con pantalón, depende del momento y nuestro criterio. De todos modos, estamos en un momento de aumento de protagonismo del bañador, después de un tiempo en que todo era bikini.  A mi gusta cambiar.

 

- Bikini or Swimsuit?

I always say that the two things, like sometimes we dress skirt and other with pants, depends on the time and at our discretion. Anyway, we are in a time of increased prominence of the swimsuit, after a time when everything was bikini. I like change.

 

 

- Ha colaborado con la selección española diseñando el vestuario para los Juegos Olímpicos ¿Cómo surge esta colaboración?

Empezamos a  colaborar con ellos en el Mundial de Sanghai.  Luego nos propusieron hacer los de las olimpiadas. Supuso mucho trabajo, pero fue una maravillosa experiencia, tanto en el terreno profesional como en el personal. Son unas chicas encantadoras.

 

- Has collaborated with the Spanish designing costumes for the Olympics. How did this collaboration?

We started working with them in the Olympic games of Sanghai. Then we proposed to make the Olympics. I supposed to assume a lot of work, but it was a wonderful experience, both in the professional and personally. They are a lovely girls.

- En Dolores Cortés encontramos una amplia variedad de colecciones para todo tipo de mujer, desde líneas para futuras mamás pasando por bañadores de calidad técnicamente estudiados para dar imagen de una o dos tallas menos, los bikinis más fashion hasta llegar a los más peques.( Dolores Cortés Beachwear, Pasarela, Shape Swim, Mum, Win,Kids) ¿A quién se dirige Dolores Cortés?

Dolores Cortés se dirige a cualquier mujer que quiera lucir guapa con la ropa de baño y lo mismo para sus niños.  Piensa que estamos especializados en Moda Baño y en este producto vertimos todo nuestro conocimiento, experiencia e ilusión. Lo único que hacemos es baño y en el baño abarcamos todos los segmentos.

 

- In Dolores Cortés you can  find a wide variety of collections for all types of women, from lines for Moms through quality swimsuits technically studied to give an image  of one or two size less, from the most fashionable bikinis to the child swiw wear  (Dolores Cortés Beachwear, Catwalk, Shape Swim, Mum, Win, Kids) . What is  the style of Dolores Cortés ?

Dolores Cortés is directed to any woman who wants to look pretty with swimwear and the same for their children. Think  that we are specialized in fashion swimwear and in this product we invest all our knowledge, experience and enthusiasm. All we do is in the swimwear and we cover all segments.

 

¿En qué se ha inspirado para crear las colecciones de esta Primavera Verano 2013?

En esta colección 2013 hemos desarrollado varias tendencias:

Color explosion. Estimulante, joven y atractiva

Vintage sailor: Ambiente marinero

Bhairava: Inspiracion Paisley en dibujos posicionados.

En la pasarela de Madrid presentamos la parte de la colección más étnica, inspirada en culturas antiguas del caribe americano. Concretamente, colaboraron con nosotros la tribu Wayúu de la Guajira. Inspirados en su artesanía, sus gráficos y sus colores, creamos esta colección muy plástica y vibrante. Esto conforma la Colección D.C. Pasarela de este verano.  Nuestra línea más especial.

 

 -Where do you find your inspiration?

 

 In this collection of 2013 we have developed several trends:


Color explosion. Stimulating, attractive young

Vintage sailor: Environment sailor

Bhairava: Inspiration Paisley positioned drawings.


On the catwalk of Madrid presented the most ethnically collection, inspired by ancient cultures of the American Caribbean. Specifically, we collaborated with the Wayuú tribe of Guajira. Inspired by his craft, graphics and colors,  we created this  collection very plastic and vibrant. This forms the collection D.C. Gateway this summer. Our line more special.

 

 -Un icono de estilo.

 

No soy muy propensa a crearme iconos. Opino que cualquier persona que se lo proponga,  bien asesorada y con un espejo donde mirarse, puede tener mucho estilo.

 

-A style icon.

I'm not very prone to create me icons. I think that anyone who proposes it, well advised and with a mirror where you can look in yourself, you can have great style.

-La Feria Internacional de Moda FIMI la homenajeó recientemente por su carrera profesional durante la 77 edición de la pasarela de Moda Infantil que cada año se celebra en Valencia ¿Qué siente ante tal reconocimiento?

En realidad el homenaje iba dirigido a mi madre, aunque yo la acompañaba y participé en ello. Es muy entrañable e importante que reconozcan tu trabajo, mucho más si es en tu casa. Fue muy emocionante para mi madre y, por extensión, para mi.

 

- The International Fashion Fair FIMI which did homage to  her career during the 77th edition of the children's fashion catwalk that each year takes place in Valencia. What do feel about this recognition?


Actually the homage was addressed to my mother, but I accompanied and participated in it. It's very endearing and important recognize your work, much more if it is in your home. It was very exciting for my mother and, by extension, for me.

 

 

- Ha desfilado entre otras pasarelas en  la Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid y Mercedes Benz Fashion Swim Miami. ¿Cómo fue la experiencia en Miami?

Hemos desfilado tres años. Este será el cuarto y es una experiencia muy gratificante el que te inviten a desfilar en la primera pasarela de EEUU. Mas aún porque ves que aprecian tu trabajo y cada año nos consideran mejor como marca y nos ofrecen mejores posibilidades para el desfile.

 

- Dolores Cortés was in catwalks like Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid and Mercedes Benz Miami Swim Fashion. How was the experience in Miami?

We was three editions. This will be the fourth and is a very rewarding experience to be invited to show your collection in the first U.S. catwalk. Moreover because you see that they appreciate your work and consider us each year  better   as a brand and  they offer us better opportunities for the parade.

-¿Dónde podemos adquirir alguna de sus prendas?

Tenemos algunas tiendas propias en la C. Valenciana, estamos en tiendas multimarca y en corners de los mejores grandes almacenes. También tenemos una tienda online muy atractiva.

- Where can we buy your clothes?

We have some stores in the C. Valencia, we are in multi-brand stores and corners of the top department stores. We also have a very attractive online store.
