-¿Cómo recuerdas tus comienzos en el mundo de la moda?
Mis comienzos en el mundo de la moda, fueron dados a que algunas puertas se cerraron, precisamente en este mundo y fue cuando decidí crear mi propia marca y darla a conocer internacionalmente. Está siendo díficil, y más con los tiempos que corren, por eso no cesamos en nuestro empeño de continuar dando guerra.
-How do you remember your start in the fashion world? My start in the fashion world, were given to some doors closed, precisely in this world and then I decided to create my own brand and make it known internationally. It's still difficult, and more with these times, so We don't cease in our efforts and doing the best.
-¿Que impulsa tus diseños?
Lo que impulsa a mis diseños son esas novias que buscan algo especial en su día. Intento plasmar lo más actual junto a lo tradicional, dándole siempre mi toque de "locura".
- How do you get the inspiration? What drives my designs are those brides who are looking for something special on her day. I try to capture the most current with the traditional, always giving my touch of "madness."
-¿Qué diferencia a Jordi Dalmau del resto de propuestas de vestidos de novias que podemos encontrar en el mercado?
Lo qué nos diferencia del resto de las firmas es la gran amplitud de gamas de color que se encuentran en nuestras colecciones, respetando siempre los vestidos blancos más tradicionales, con nuestro toque moderno.
- What differentiates Jordi Dalmau's proposals from other wedding dresses that we can find in the market? What differentiates us from other brands is the wide range of color schemes found in our collections, always respecting the traditional white dresses, with our modern twist.
-Destacan especialmente en tus colecciones los diseños desmontables y el color ¿Cómo es la novia Jordi Dalmau?
La novia de Jordi Dalmau es una chica atrevida moderna, pero a la vez tradicional, es una mezcla de todas ellas, que no se deja llevar por modas y apuesta por ser única en su gran día.
- Specially emphasize in your collections removable and colour full designs How is Jordi Dalmau's bride? Jordi Dalmau's bride is a bold and modern girl, but traditional at the same time , it's a mixture of all of them, which is not carried away by fads and better bet to be unique on your great day.
- Cada vez os están llamando más del extranjero para desfilar y presentar vuestras colecciones, ¿te gustaría vestir a alguna celebritie en especial?
Estaríamos encantados de que cualquier celebrities llevara nuestros diseños, pero una de las que lo lucíría con sus mejores curvas sin duda sería Beyoncé.
- More and more you are calling from abroad to parade and present your collections, would you like to wear some celebritie ? We would be delighted if any celebrities dress our designs, but one that would look best with her curves she would certainly be Beyoncé.
-¿Cuál es la razón por la que diriges tu trabajo a diseñar novia?
Nuestro camino se enfocó directamente a novia, porque es un diseño muy especial, algo que en teoría se pone una chica una vez en su vida. Debe ser un diseño que refleje su personalidad y estilo. Me gusta buscar la exclusividad en cada una de ellas, adaptando el vestido a esa persona en concreto, es algo mágico , personal y exclusivo donde estás muy en contacto con la novia para crear esa gran pieza que la hará inolvidable.
- What is the reason that you direct your work to design for brides? Our work is directly focused to brides, because it's a very special design, which theoretically wears a girl once in her life. Must be a design that reflects her personality and style. I like looking for exclusivity in each of them, adapting the dress to the person in particular is something magical, personal and exclusive where you are very in touch with the bride to create this great piece that will make it unforgettable.
-¿Recuerdas la primera pieza que creaste?
La primera pieza que creé, la recuerdo como algo loco, pensé que solo me gustaba a mí , hasta que me di cuenta que la gente se pone lo que salía de mi cabeza.
- Do you remember the first piece that you created? The first piece I created, I remember as a little crazy, I thought I only liked me, until I realized that people wears what out of my head ..
- Ha poco habéis realizado un Cortometraje junto a Javier Lozano para la firma, una película de terror ¿cómo fue la experiencia?
Llegar a hacer el cortometraje de elixir que yo tenía en mi cabeza, guionizada, dirigida y expuesta en distintos festivales de cortometrajes , entre ellos Sitges. Un placer haber trabajado con todos ellos y una experiencia y por agotadora no creo que vuelva a repetir. Lo mío es diseñar.
-You have made a short film with Javier Lozano for signature, a horror movie. how was the experience? Getting to make the elixir short film what I had in my head, scripted, directed and exhibited in various short film festivals, including Sitges. A pleasure to work with them and an exhausting experience and for this I don't think that I repeat it again. I love design, it's my job.
-Tu hija Iris ha protagonizado en varias ocasiones la performance ¿De qué manera inspira tus colecciones?
Mi hija Iris es el principal motivo por el que me muevo. Sin ella mis colecciones no tendrían sentido. Incluso a veces, en nuestros viajes, ella me da ideas descabelladas que poco a poco transformo en realidad. De momento ella me acompaña en cada pasarela, porque me da fuerzas y ánimos para seguir adelante.
-Your daughter Iris has starred on several occasions the performance. How does she inspire your collections? My daughter Iris is the main reason why i'm moving. Without her, my collections would be meaningless. Even sometimes, in our travels, she gives me crazy ideas that gradually I turned into reality. Currently she accompanies me on every catwalk, because it gives me strength and courage to go ahead.
-¿Qué se siente al ver desfilar tus diseños en pasarelas como Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week?
La primera vez que desfilamos en la Barcelona Bridal Week, fue algo especial que no puede explicarse con palabras... ver todo lo que ha salido de las manos de mi equipo, desfilando con grandes modelos, que hacen que flote en una nube, de la que hay que bajar para transformarlo en realidad.
- How does it feel to see your designs paraded on runways as Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week? The first time we march in Barcelona Bridal Week, it was something special that can't be explained with words ... see everything that has come from the hands of my team, parading with great models, which make it float on a cloud, you have to down and transform it into reality.
- Si no hubieses sido diseñador ¿qué te hubiese gustado ser?
Si no hubiese sido diseñador, creo que podría haberme dedicado a cualquier cosa artística relacionada con las manualidades. De hecho, yo empecé mi andadura como florista.
- If you hadn't been a fashion designer. what would you liked to be? If it weren't a designer, I think I could have spent my time on anything artistic related with crafts. In fact, I started my career as a florist.
- ¿Cómo es la colección de novias de Jordi Dalmau para este 2014?
La novia elixir para 2014, es una chica que defiende la tradición mezclada con la que es moderna, transgresora, algo muy común en todas nuestras colecciones.
- How is the bridal collection of Jordi Dalmau for this 2014? The bride elixir 2014, is a girl who defends the tradition mixed whith whom is modern, transgressive, something very common in all our collections.
-¿Dónde podemos adquirir tus prendas?
Nuestros vestidos pueden adquirirse en distintos puntos exclusivos en España, tales como nuestro taller en Granollers ( Barcelona), Zaragoza, Valencia, Madrid , Vitoria, Galicia, Francia, Portugal, Bélgica y desde este año también en Qatar.
- Where can we buy your clothes? Our dresses are available in some exclusive locations in Spain, such as our workshop in Granollers (Barcelona), Zaragoza, Valencia, Madrid, Vitoria, Galicia, France, Portugal, Belgium and this year also in Qatar.
-Y para terminar, ¿Un sueño por realizar?
Mi sueño por realizar es desfilar en la semana de moda de New York, junto a grandes como Vera Wang o Carolina Herrera, saltar el charco.
-And finally, A dream to be done? My dream is to perform a catwalk in the New York Fashion Week, along with great professionals as Vera Wang and Carolina Herrera, to Cross the pond.
